East Jakarta Forest Sub-dept. to Manage 13 City Forests

East Jakarta Forestry Sub-dept. will manage 13 city forests this year. But the budget available this year is only for maintenance.

According to Romi Sidharta, Head of East Jakarta Forestry Sub-dept., city forests that were previously managed by East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept.

"This is just a matter of general care and planting. Talk about heavy damage, we can't do it due to unavailable budget," he told, Wednesday (3/28).

His party still needs more officers to maintain those forests is still lacking. So far there are only 20 officers. Ideally, every officer only handles 2,200 square meters in accordance with the coefficients and the calculation results of the study from the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB)

"Which is why we apply the mobile system. Each officer must be mobile to do maintenance from one forest to others," he said.

The maintenance conducted is by watering and planting trees. There is also tree pruning against shady trees.

He details, a number of city forests managed by East Jakarta Forestry Sub-dept. are Ujung Menteng City Forest (14,300 square meters width), Aneka Elok (40,000 square meters width), Cijantung City Forest in the Kopassus Cijantung Housing Complex (17,500 square meters width).

There are also Kompleks Billy Moon Duren Sawit City Forest (20,000 square meters width), Rawa Dongkal City Forest (32,800 square meters width), Viaduct Cawang City Forest (10,000 square meters width), UKI City Forest (20,000 square meters width), Halim Perdanakusuma City Forest (35,000 square meters width), and Pondok Kelapa City Forest (20,000 square meters width).

Further, there are Cilangkap City Forest (42,000 square meters width), DAS Sunter Hulu City Forest (30,000 square meters width), Duku City Forest (5,000 square meters width), and Setu City Forest (9,300 square meters width).
